Mmm, tastes like chicken

Apparently Jacob likes the taste of Owen cuz I caught him trying to eat his brother again! It's a shame I didn't get it on video cuz a minute later Owen gave a swift kick and knocked Jacob onto his back. Oh these two crack me up!

Interactions

I love to watch these two interact. The other day Jacob saw Owen's foot kicking and just had to try a bite! :)

The rocking smoke monster

If you've been watching Lost you'll know all about Jacob and his evil twin the Smoke Monster. We've noticed our twins are a lot like them -- Jacob is the quieter, calmer twin while Owen is the crazy ornery one. So we're calling Owen "Smokey". Here he is being the wild and ferocious (but also terribly cute!) Smoke Monster. :)

He's also started rocking up on hands and knees. Last night he would rock so hard and then launch himself forward and do a face plant in the carpet. Yes, we laughed hysterically!

A new trick

Here is my cute little naked Owen up on all fours. All of a sudden the boys have learned this new trick an I'm sure they will begin crawling before we know it!

Let's Get Lost

Project 52: Date Nights logo

Initially I made different plans for date night this week, but when I realized the Lost series finale was this weekend I decided we should watch that instead. We've been fans and avid watchers of the show since it started and were excited to see how it all would end. We busted out some treats from our date night basket -- root beer and whoppers -- and cuddled on the couch to watch. I was a little disappointed in the finale when it was over, but now that I've had time to digest it I find myself liking the ending more and more.
Colby couldn't resist taking a pic of Terry O'Quinn, aka Locke. Colby got his autograph a few years ago when we were on the same flight from Hawaii. We were so giddy when we recognized him on the plane and followed him off trying to take pics of him before Colby finally asked him to sign our boarding pass. :)

Double Krabby Patty

My boys are growing and changing so fast! I really can't believe they are 6 1/2 months already. Where has the time gone? Those first few weeks, and even few months were so tough. But now things are so much more manageable (but still busy!!!) and they are becoming so much more fun and interactive that it makes everything totally worth it. :)

Jacob-left, Owen-rightLove Jacob's drunken face in this one. Oh, and let's not forget about that lovely stream of drool!!
Just chatting with each other.

Landon-isms

Landon is such a funny little guy! He has such a personality and everything he does and says just cracks me up.

The other day I was listening to Wicked in the car. After "Popular" was over he said, "More lollipop song please!" And now whenever he hears a Wicked song he requests the "lollipop song."

We drove past a Shell station the other day and Landon said, "Mommy, I don't like that big washing machine." I looked over to see a car going through the car wash.

Things aren't "yucky" they're "lucky".

He's constantly telling me "That's not fair!" even for things that wouldn't warrant that response. "Watch TV? But that's not fair mommy!" or "I get to have grapes? That's not fair!"

Oh how I love my little Landon!!! :)

Hold On Tight

So now that Cailyn has been getting into her books she asked if she could bring one to school to read during "read & relax" time. I was a bit hesitant cuz I was afraid she'd lose it. But I finally gave in with a strict warning to hold on to it and NOT lose it!!! Well a couple days later I found out that she took my words literally. Apparently she had carried her book around everywhere -- to the rug, out to recess, even at lunch. And when she sat at her desk she put it in the corner of her desk so she could keep her eye on it at all times. I asked her how she played at recess and she said if one of her friends was sad and not playing she'd ask them to hold it. If no one could then she would just sit and read it at recess. Silly little girl!!!

Multi Cultural

The other night I made some cashew sweet & sour pork for dinner and decided to bring out the chopsticks. Of course the kids wanted to use them, too. It was so funny watching them try and figure out how to use them!

Landon was concentrating so hard:

Cailyn finally figured out an easier way to do it. :)

A New Do

Cailyn has been begging to have her haircut short. She finally got her wish and is so excited to have a new hairstyle. :)

Happy Birthday Colby!

Since we're not much of cake-people Colby decided he wanted banana splits for his birthday dessert! :)

"Mommy, he's touching me!"

The boys have really started to become aware of each other lately and will touch and grab each other. But sometimes when they're in one of those moods they whine when they are being touched. Big babies. :P

Little Bookworm

Cailyn has always loved to read, but lately she has really enjoyed reading, particularly reading by herself in bed. Usually I read a chapter with her before she goes to bed and lately she has asked if she could stay up just a little longer to read by herself. How can I refuse such a request?! She just LOVES Junie B. Jones and will read the funny parts over and over and try to explain them all to me. It's pretty cute. And she can recite word-for-word what the boss of cookies rules are. :)

Looking for Edward

I absolutely LOVE this pic Uncle Mike took & edited of Landon.

Girls Night

Colby and Landon went on a Father & Sons camp out last night so Cailyn and I decided to have our own girls night. First we went to El Torito with Mom & Emilee. Then we came home, got the babies in bed, watched Hannah Montana the Movie, painted our nails (she picked out yellow for her and orange for me!), and ate a pizzookie. Then we turned on "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus and Cailyn taught me the dance she made up to it. :) It was so much fun to spend some one-on-one time with my baby girl. She had been looking forward to this all week and she loved every minute of it!

Do you have enough toys?

As I was eating breakfast this morning Landon ran up to me and said, "Mommy, hurry come take a picture of baby!" I don't know which was funnier -- the fact that he gave Jacob all these toys or the fact that he knew I'd want to take a picture of it. :)

Chopped

Last night was the BEST. DATE NIGHT. EVER. Seriously, it was such a blast!! After our crepes last week, Colby said he got the idea for this week. While I tucked the kids into bed he ran out to the grocery store and then printed something up on the computer. I kinda figured we were going to be trying a new recipe again, which I thought was a little lame considered we JUST did that. Boy was I wrong!

He brought me into the kitchen and showed me this: and announced we would be having a Chopped competition! (Love that show.) I was a bit perplexed, wondering what was in the basket and how on earth I could come up with something from scratch. I'm soooo not creative with cooking and am a very recipe-oriented kinda girl. Here were the ingredients we had to work with:Kiwi fruit, mini chocolate chips, cashews and peach syrup. (Can't you just hear Ted Allen's voice as you read those?!) We had 50 minutes (yes, I know the contestants on the show only get 30, but hey, we're amateurs!) to come up with a dessert using these ingredients. We both just kinda sat there laughing for a few minutes and staring at the ingredients, wondering what on earth we were gonna make. We finally started going and it was such a hoot running around the kitchen and acting like goofballs. I admit I was known to say, "Behind you!" several times, just like they say on the show. :) We made quite the mess in the kitchen.
I decided to make a dessert pizza. I think I had a bit of an advantage cuz I knew what other ingredients we had in the kitchen. Like sugar cookie mix. And cream cheese. And I was pretty proud of my chocolate melting skills, too. I tempered it (is that the correct term?) just like I saw the Barefoot Contessa do once. :)I mean, look at that beautiful, silky stream of chocolate!
Time literally FLEW by! I wanted to wait til the last minute to plate cuz I didn't want my cookies to get soggy. Plus, they always wait til the last minute on the show. (I know, I'm a dork.) I was literally sprinkling the nuts on top as we were counting down the seconds. Colby, on the other hand, was not even CLOSE to being finished. I had to wait a good 5 minutes before his dessert was done. He was totally disqualified for that. :P

So here's what I came up with. A sugar cookie topped with a frosting made of cream cheese, sugar and peach syrup. Then sliced kiwi and a cutie orange. Then my silky chocolate drizzled on top, followed by chopped cashews I toasted and candied with some sugar. It was yummy if I do say so myself. :)Here was Colby's dish. He took the blueberries out of a Jiffy muffin mixed and used chocolate chips and peach syrup mixed in. It was placed on top of crushed cashews and topped with a very bright green kiwi & apple puree and was complimented by a stream of melted chocolate. I was laughing so hard I could barely take pics cuz all I could see were two big eyeballs with bushy eyebrows staring back at me! :P
Although it looked like eyeballs, it really wasn't too bad. But I still think my dessert was better. ;) And plus he was DQ'd cuz of the time issue, and because he used a mixing bowl that was pretty much 12 sizes too large for the batter he was mixing. :)

We had so much fun last night!!! It was totally different and we got to act like big goofballs! I'll still be giggling about this one for a while. I don't know if either of us can top it. Or if we can watch Chopped the same way any more. (I totally have a new respect for those chefs!)
