Bust A Move

Our first date night was pretty low key. First we signed our Pledge. And when Colby read the rule of "no frumpy clothing" he went and changed his work shirt and even put on some cologne. (How sweet!) The plan was to play our new Wii game called Bust a Move Bash. I was soooo excited for this game cuz we love the Super Nintendo version. Unfortunately we weren't too impressed with it. So we only played it for a bit then switched to Wii Play, where I totally kicked butt at Find the Mii. But then Colby kicked butt at Ping Pong.

We also had some Peach Crunch Cake and watched some speed skating. It was lots of fun and Colby even volunteered to be in charge of March. :)

We (okay, I) got a little silly at this point and couldn't stop giggling at Colby. I must have been tired! :P

Hot Dog on a Stick

Landon is such a funny kid. He loves eating corn dogs but won't eat the breading. So he literally ends up with a hot dog on a stick. And trust me, it is not the same as a regular hot dog (at least according to him). One of these days I should just buy some sticks and thread a hot dog on it. :P

Pizza & Movie Night

Every Friday in our home is Pizza & Movie night. We started doing this a couple years ago and we all enjoy it. The kids love to help "decorate" our pizza, even though half the toppings usually end up in their mouths instead of the pizza. Landon, in particular, is known for grabbing the last handful of olives and shoving them in his mouth before anyone realizes it. They also get to pick out a soda and eat in the family room. Sometimes we watch a new movie, sometimes one we've seen a dozen times. Last night was Toy Story 2.

As a side note, last night after our movie we had family scripture & prayer. Literally 5 seconds into the prayer I heard Cailyn's breathing get heavy and felt her slump over and knew she was out cold. It cracks me up how quickly that girl can fall asleep! It took a lot of will power to get through the prayer without giggling. :)

Oranges

Cailyn just came in from playing outside and I could tell she was a little freaked out by something. She said she accidentally stepped on an orange that had fallen from our tree and this red stuff came splattering out, like blood.

Cailyn: It's like it's a blood orange or something!
Me: Actually it is a blood orange.
Cailyn: (Wheels turning in her head as she contemplates this appalling news.)
Me: Well, it's not actually blood, but that's just what they're called.
Cailyn: (Wheels still turning.) Well, I never want to look at one of those again! It totally freaks me out!

Hehe, I love kids!

Date Nights

Project 52: Date Nights logo

With a six year old, a three year old, and 4 month old twins, life has become increasingly busy. Colby & I have never really been big on date nights, mostly because we’re cheap and we don’t want to burden anyone with our kids. We do a pretty good job at spending time together in the evenings just watching TV and stuff, but lately I’ve felt like we owe it to ourselves to do a little something more for our relationship. I came across this blog post from Simply Modern Mom called Project 52. Basically the idea is to date your spouse every week and to do most things for cheap/free at home after the kids go to bed. PERFECT!

And even though Colby may think I’m silly, I decided that we’re gonna do it! (I’m sure he is reading this blog post and thinking, “What the … ? This is the first I'm hearing about this!” Well, get over it, honey. I do what I want. :P ) And I plan to blog about all our dates cuz as he recently pointed out, this blog has become like our family’s online journal. It is awesome to be able to go back through the last couple years to see where we were and what we were doing and to remember all the fun times we’ve had as a family and with our children. Plus as both my mom AND my dad pointed out to me, all our recent posts have been about Jacob & Owen. So I guess I need to start blogging about more than just the twins!

A New Toy

Let's see .... 2 bouncers, 2 swings, and now 2 jumperoos. I don't think our little family room can take much more baby equipment! But at least the boys seem to like their new toy. :)

Here's Jacob:

Little Farmer Boys

The only thing better than a baby in overalls is TWO babies in overalls! After we got them dressed this morning Cailyn said they look like farmers. :)

Jacob the Clown

This is what happens when I leave Colby alone with the boys. I swear I was only gone from the room for a couple minutes and he was able to put the wig on, take a couple pics, and put everything back before I knew what was going on. Although I must admit it's pretty hilarious!!!

Rollie Pollie Jacob

All of a sudden Jacob decided that he can roll over. I guess he got tired of tummy time. :) I guess this is the first step in these boys becoming mobile -- heaven help us!!!
