Newport Beach

Yesterday we went to Newport Beach. We ate at The Crab Cooker and had the biggest crab legs I've ever seen. (And it was my first time eating them, too!) Then we took a walk along the beach. We have had so much fun since Meagan & Tyler came home from school! They need to visit more often. :o)

He Speaks!

After trying very hard to get Landon to talk, he can finally say his first word: Mama. How appropriate! :o)

Celebrity Look Alikes

At church yesterday Cailyn was flipping through the Friend magazine. I felt a little tug on my sleeve and Cailyn whispers, "Is this Papa?" It was a picture of President Uchtdorf! I guess I can see the resemblance. Maybe it's just the gray hair. :o)

Learning New Skills

Now that Erika is going off to school I will be taking over her duties as landscaper for Dad's building. She gave me a crash course today. Can you believe that in my 28 years I have never operated a weed whacker?! I have a feeling the grass will look a bit odd for the first couple months while I get the hang of that thing!

Disneyland

Yay! We get to use our passes again! We had a lot of fun yesterday. I can't wait until the crowds die down and we can go when there's not so many people. Once you've been spoiled by not waiting in long lines, it's hard to go back!

Cailyn talked Grandma into going on the swinging Ferris Wheel by telling her to be brave. But once we got on the ride I think Cailyn was a little bit more terrified than Grandma! (Just a little, though!)

Phelps Phan

Even Cailyn has gotten swept up in Michael Phelps mania. She has thoroughly enjoyed watching all of his races and was disappointed this morning that there were no more of his olympic races to watch. She went out to get the newspaper this morning and came back in saying, "Look -- Michael Phelps!" Sure enough, his picture was on the front page!

Camping

Yesterday I got a call from Meagan saying Dad had a bad day so we're all going camping in an hour! Yes it was last minute but it sure was a lot of fun!!! We went to a place called Hurkey Creek, only about an hour drive. We hit Walmart on the way for food and had a great time. This morning we went to the park at the campsite and the kids (well, okay, the adults too!) had fun playing around. It was such a great trip for being so last minute!
